Health Benefits and Hacks :
Soaking almonds, figs and dates in water help in releasing their micronutrients. It also makes it easier to digest the dry fruits which leads to better nutrient absorption in active and growing bodies. Flax seeds are a rich source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Adding cinnamon —which is loaded with antioxidants and carries anti-inflammatory properties— will also amplify the taste of your smoothie. Apples have a low glycemic index, are a good source of Vitamin A, C, B1, B2 along with B6 and feed your healthy gut bacteria, thus improving your digestion and overall health. Dates and figs are rich sources of iron, calcium, and potassium making this smoothie a great snack for adolescents. Banana contains 450 mg of Potassium and 0 mg sodium which helps in balancing the electrolytes in your body, adding to the numerous benefits of apple fig smoothie. Replace regular banana with frozen banana to give this smoothie a rich texture. This will also chill your smoothie on a hot summer morning, without watering it down with ice. To make a restaurant-style apple fig smoothie and to increase the antioxidants, add a handful of berries and seeds of your choice while blending the smoothie. You can replace water with milk of your choice to increase the nutritional value. Check out the apple fig smoothie video to treat yourself with a perfect pre-workout snack.
